Communicating with Your Spirits and Spirit Guides
Hoodoo Spirit Work
Creating a Sacred
Space to Communicate With Your Spirit Guides

Creating a sacred space within yourself is a great
way to work with your Spirit Guides. It will increase your awareness in your
body and in your consciousness and is a focused, portable place where you can go
to commune with your guides.
To create your sacred space, simply use your imagination. Those thoughts are
where creation begins. As you work with your imagination, you will actually be
able to create that place in the Spiritual Plane and eventually astral travel to
spend time there in that reality.
You may already have an imaginary place from your childhood. If you do, it is
perfectly OK to use that one. If not, you can choose from a temple, a natural
area, a castle, even a movie. It will become a place of connection for you and a
place where again, you can even access the Spiritual Realm physically as well as
through communication with your guides.
The more you work on this space, the stronger it will be. Add comfortable
pillows, beautiful flowers, candles incense, art work, statuary, anything you
like or resonant with. This sanctuary is your, so make it any way you want, any
color. Change it when you like and as you go along, for as you work with your
guides, you will change spiritually and it may not suit you after a while.
When creating this space, begin as you normally would for creating sacred space.
If you don't know how, you can refer to some of my articles about creating
sacred space. Set the atmosphere, with candles and incense that reminds you of
that place. This incense can be a trigger for you later in your guide work and
astral travels.
Perform some relaxation exercises until you feel fully relaxed. Enact the Mystic
Marriage Exercise so that your imagination is stimulated and your intuitive
channels are open. Now you are ready to really work the creative powers of your
mind.
Fully relaxed, draw in a blanket of energy and wrap it about your body. Next,
allow your imagination to take you to your sacred space. See the path or road
you take and the flowers that bloom beside it. Listen to the birds in the trees
and pay attention to what types of trees are there. They may have messages for
you, or provide healing services and medicinal leaves and barks. Is there a
trickling brook nearby or a rushing waterfall? Take your time and observe all
the things your imagination shows you about your trip.
Now, when you have arrived at a power spot in the landscape, stop and begin to
build your sacred space. Again, it doesn't matter where it is. It might be a
garden, a whimsy in the backyard, or the grandest Celtic castle. It's your
decision. Once it's complete, call to your Spirit Guides and ask them to come
and sit with you. Don't forget a couple of comfortable chairs, or rocks.
Ask your guides questions and be silent and listen for the answers. The answers
may come as whispers, signs, visions, or even air currents. Pay very close
attention until you learn how your guide communicates and you receive your
answers. Just as each person is different, so too are the guides.
When you are finished, say goodbye and travel back along that path or road
paying attention to your surroundings and changing anything you life.
The more you use this sacred place the more concrete it becomes, not only in
your mind, but in the astral planes too. Each time you go there, it will become
easier and you'll access the sacred place more quickly. Your guides will begin
to expect you and be ready to communicate with you. Like anything else, the more
work you put into these experiences, the more you will get from them.
